What is MINING :

Mining is the extraction of valuable minerals or other geological materials from the earth, usually from an ore body, lode, vein, seam, reef or placer deposit.

The process of extraction of minerals is two types of working first opencast and second underground.
Extraction depends on mineral deposition.

It has both Advantage and disadvantage. Same, it’s One phase, extracted minerals improve the economical condition of any country, and Another phase is the degradation of the environment.

MINING THE FUTURE :

Mining is one of the oldest businesses in the world yet it hasn’t stopped being profitable. People have mined crude oil, gold, silver, and precious metals for centuries yet the mining industry is valued at around $500 billion, with an annual growth rate of 0.6%.

India is home to 1,531 operating mines and produces 95 minerals. The industry accounted for about 2.9% of the total gross value added (GVA) in 2017-18.

Coal’s share in India’s primary energy consumption is expected to be 48% in 2040

key Point :

    • India is the 3rd largest producer of coal.
    • India ranks 4th in terms of iron ore production globally. In FY18, production of iron ore stood at 210 million tonnes. India has around 8 percent of the world’s deposits of iron ore.
    • India became the world’s second-largest crude steel producer in 2018 with an output of 106.5 million tonnes.
    • According to the Ministry of Mines, India has the 7th largest bauxite reserves- around 2,908.85 million tonnes in FY17.

CAREER IN MINING :

Mining field gives so many opportunities to grow up your career. You can choose a career in the following fields of mining: –

1.In COAL MINES :

Coal are sedimentary rocks formed by an accumulation of plant materials in swamps. Hence the source of coal is the vegetation matter. Formation of a coal deposit requires a large accumulation of vegetation matter. According to the origin of coal two basic theory DRIFT and IN-SITU. Coal formed millions of years ago when the earth was covered with huge swampy forests where plants – giant ferns, reeds, and mosses – grew.

Coal is a very important mineral which is used in power generation. Following countries are best coal producer : –

1.China
2.United States
3.Australia
4.India
5.Indonesia

2.Oil and Gases :

Petroleum (also known as crude oil or simply oil) is a fossil fuel that was formed from the remains of ancient marine organisms.

Following countries are the best Oil and Gas, Producer:-

1. USA
2.Russia
3.Saudi Arabia (OPEC)
4.Iraq(OPEC)
5. Iran(OPEC)

3.Other Fields :

Many minerals are situated in the depth of the earth and these are extracted by MINING.
